Pies

Bang Bang Pie Shop offers a rotating and seasonal menu of pies. We generally feature a fruit, cream & chocolate pie daily by the slice or whole pie. The menu listed below is accurate but may change daily or weekly (depending on the season; our whims & what we think looks tasty at the market).

Please note, we have a small kitchen with an even smaller oven and thus only have a limited number of pies & biscuits daily. Of course, we always hope you find what you want when you visit but you are welcome to call ahead and pre-order your whole pies or biscuit tins to guarantee availability. Call us now! ~ 773.276.8888

Honey Thyme with Strawberries:

Most people don’t even realize this is a real pie. Our honey pie is a firm baked honey custard. We’ve added thyme and garnished this pie with fresh macerated strawberries. It’s in a corn meal crust making it a rustic pie in the 1850′s tradition. It’s a perfect start to this slowly arriving spring.

Spring Vegetable Tart:

Spring is finally here! This vegetable pie is filled with whatever we’ve found at the market. Because spring is so fleeting, the vegetables change but it has been known to feature fiddle-head fern, purple potatoes, asparagus, tricolored carrots, shallots, and fava beans. We top the pie with baked wisconsin gruyere, parsley, and a dash of lemon.
This slice is filled with these vegetables and baked into out traditional leaf-lard pastry.

Cocolate Coconut:

One of our Baker’s mother’s favorite. This house-made graham cracker crust is filled with a bottom layer of house-made coconut marshmallow that is topped with a dark chocolate ganache cream. We finish the top of the pie with our whipped coconut meringue. It’s a rich and creamy chocolate pie.

Rhubarb with Vanilla Almond Oat Crumble:

Rhubarb is here! This hyper-seasonal delicious fruit means that spring has officially arrived. This pie has a perfectly balanced tart rhubarb filling and is topped with an almond oat crumble. It’s a well executed old-fashioned pie in our traditional leaf-lard pastry!
